Life update: In which I'm still pinching myself...

Hello!

OMG, what a week it's been!

I'm still pinching myself after The Baby rocketed to number 16 in the whole of the UK Kindle charts on Friday, and number 84 in the US Kindle charts.

It's the highest any of my books has ever ranked, and to say I'm thrilled is the understatement of the year.

It was the perfect excuse to crack open a bottle of champagne. Aldi's finest, obvs, because I haven't let my newfound success go completely to my head! 😆

If you've read and enjoyed The Baby already, I'd love you to tell your thriller-loving friends. There's nothing like a personal recommendation to spread the word about a new release.

If you haven't, you can check it out here.

[Don't forget that you can read it for free if you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription!]

There's been double cause for celebration Chez Wills because Adrian's latest book was also released last week.

The Boy in the Woods follows mum-of-two Sabine Sugar who thinks she sees her eldest son, Leo, grappling with her neighbours' teenage daughter, Olivia, during a walk in the woods.

A few hours later, Olivia is reported missing. Leo claims to know nothing about her disappearance. But can Sabine really trust him? After all, it's not the first time he's lied to her...

I had the pleasure of proofreading The Boy in the Woods, and it was such a twisty, enjoyable read that I almost forgot I had a job to do. So if you spot any bloopers, it's my bad!

You can check out the book here.

In other news, I finally finished the first draft of my eighth psychological thriller and sent it off to my editor last Tuesday.

She's the very first person to clap eyes on the manuscript and I'm keeping everything crossed she likes it. I'll find out soon enough, as she's sending the structural edits back to me early this week.

Hopefully there won't be too much work to do and I can crack on planning Book 9.

After I sent off Book 8 I had a couple of days to catch up with housework and gardening, plus tackling all the boring admin jobs that had been stacking up while I was locked away in my writing cave.

Tomorrow I'm off to Chapel Down winery near Tenterden with some girlfriends for a tour of the vineyard and a wine-tasting, which I'm very excited about. And next weekend an old schoolfriend and I are doing the 29-mile Midhurst Way walk through the beautiful South Downs, which should also be great fun, although a little more tiring on the old legs!!

After that, it really will be time to get my head down and push on with Book 9, as the deadline is the first week in September.

One way or another it's looking like a busy summer is on the cards!

That's all from me for now, but before I sign off I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who've bought/read/listened to/reviewed/spread the word about The Baby. I appreciate it so much!

Happy reading,

Amanda
