I thought he was dead. Until I saw him staring back at me…

Ten years have passed since Lara's sister, Isabelle, was murdered, leaving behind her five-year-old daughter, Lily.

Lara is trying her best to care for Lily and salvage what’s left of her shattered family. After all, she promised to keep her niece safe after everything she’s been through.

But then Lara sees a face in a photo she took just yesterday that turns her blood to ice.

She tells herself it can’t be him, but she knows in her gut it is. The man Isabelle married. The man who killed her. The man Lara thought was dead…

I had the idea for The Photo during a wet and windy week’s holiday in North Wales last March.

I hadn’t even been thinking about books the morning the premise for the story popped into my head: what if a photographer saw someone in the back of one of her photographs - someone who really shouldn’t be there?

I let the idea percolate for a while, not least because I was in the middle of writing The Baby, and when it was time to decide who was in the photo – and why they shouldn’t have been there - I had great fun letting my imagination run wild!

I was keen to make my protagonist, Lara, a press photographer who left her job after a personal tragedy. Having worked on local newspapers as a reporter for over twenty years, I had great fun writing the newspaper and press conference scenes.

The Photo is my seventh psychological thriller and is the most plot-driven book I’ve ever written, with the biggest cast of characters. Working out their motivations and how they interacted with each other was a challenge, and I hope I pulled it off.

The book bloggers who received early review copies certainly seem to think so!

'Whatever you're thinking, I can guarantee you're wrong. Such a killer twist at the end, a real OMG no, moment!' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rona Halsall

'Full of heart and wild twists, it will keep you guessing until that very last chapter.' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mandylovestoread

'A writhing, twisting narrative, with threads easy to follow, and then thwack, right out of left field, another twist that will send you reeling.' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ink.reads

'It is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that will leave you speechless with its ending. I was not expecting the twists at all!!' ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rach.has.no.shelf.control

Here's that all-important link again:

I really do hope you enjoy The Photo.

If you do, it would mean the world to me if you could leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads. I’d love to hear what you think, and reviews make such a difference in helping new readers discover my books. But, please, no spoilers!

That's all from me for now. I'm off to celebrate the book launch with a bottle of bubbly.

Happy reading!

Amanda
