Hello!

I’m back home after a fantastic few days out in the big wide world doing fun author stuff.

On Wednesday Adrian and I travelled up to London for this year’s Self Publishing Show Live, the biggest indie author conference in the UK.

This year the event was held at the iconic County Hall a stone’s throw from the Thames and the London Eye.

Before all that, though, I paid a visit to Carmelite House, the headquarters of my publisher Bookouture, and had a catch up with my editor Natasha and the rest of the team who work so hard getting my stories into the hands of readers.

While I was there a bottle of Prosecco was cracked open, which was a lovely surprise. We had something to celebrate, after all – The Greek Island was #184 in the entire Amazon chart here in the UK. But more of that later…

On Thursday and Friday Adrian and I donned our ‘Crew’ T-shirts once again to help out at SPS Live. We’ve been members of the volunteer crew since the very first show in 2020 and now feel part of the furniture.

My jobs ranged from manning the main hall and running a mic for Q&As to introducing speakers giving various workshops on self-publishing. As always it was manic and knackering but a lot of fun and I loved catching up with some of my author buddies and meeting new people.

Recognise any faces? I'll give you a clue. Daniel Hurst, AJ Carter and Anita Chapman all make an appearance. Plus Adrian, of course, my other half and partner in crime.

It was basically impossible not to keep checking the Amazon rankings because I could see that The Greek Island was creeping even higher up the charts. It’s a good job I did because on Friday it reached the dizzying heights of #43 in the entire UK store and earned a couple of orange ‘bestseller’ tags in the process:

#1 in Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Literary Fiction

#1 in Hot New Releases in Psychological Fiction

To say I was over the moon is an understatement. 😀

Which is why I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has pre-ordered, bought, borrowed, rated or reviewed The Greek Island since its release just over two weeks ago. The book has an average 4.5 star rating in the UK and 4.2 in the US, so thank you for that too.

If you enjoyed the book I’d LOVE it if you could tell your thriller-loving friends. Ratings and reviews are great, don’t get me wrong, but nothing beats a personal recommendation.

If you haven’t read the book yet but want to check it out, you can find it here. It’s free to read with Kindle Unlimited.

I’ve come home fired up with enthusiasm for the next book, so tomorrow morning I shall be back behind my desk, working on the next round of edits.

I can’t tell you too much about the book quite yet, but I can reveal it’s another holiday thriller, so if you enjoyed The Greek Island, I think you’ll love it.

That’s all from me for now. Have a great week and speak soon.

Amanda x
