Hello!
I'm thrilled to be able to share the title and cover of my next psychological thriller with you today.
The Greek Island will be published in ebook, audiobook and paperback on Friday, 29 May.
It seems like ages, but it's actually only just over eleven weeks away, and I know the time will fly by.
If you want to be one of the first people to read it, you can pre-order it here and it will drop onto your Kindle the morning it's released.
The Greek Island is the perfect holiday read, full of twists and turns and a gasp-out-loud ending.
That's what early readers tell me, anyway!!!
Intrigued? Here are the cover and blurb to whet your appetite:
Amber can't believe her luck when her handsome boyfriend Dominic whisks her away to a luxury villa on a sun-drenched Greek island. But they’re not the only guests.
Dominic's old university friends – the effortlessly glamorous Victoria and Simone, and their husbands – are there too.
From the moment Amber arrives, she knows she doesn’t belong among these polished, privileged people. And Simone makes no secret of the fact that she wishes Amber wasn’t there.
Behind the designer clothes and easy smiles, cracks soon begin to show. The guests are hiding secrets, old rivalries simmer beneath the surface, and Amber discovers that Dominic and Simone share a complicated past.
As the heat rises and tensions spiral, the atmosphere inside the whitewashed villa grows more poisonous by the day.
Then one morning, a body is found.
And suddenly Amber realises she may be trapped on the island with a killer...
I hope you like the sound of it. And don't forget you can pre-order the book here.
If you were wondering about my process for this one, well, I've been wanting to write a summer holiday thriller for ages. It's also my first time writing a locked-room thriller, which I absolutely loved.
Finally, I wanted to explore themes of class and privilege, and how some people are born lucky while others have to make their own luck.
My sparky heroine Amber is named after our tabby Amber, aka Princess Amber, who, as a rescue kitten, didn't have the best start to life either. But we like to think she landed on her paws when we adopted her back in October 2022.
Here she is, then and now. 🥰
I finished the first draft in three-and-a-half months and since then I've been working through the various rounds of edits which, I'm delighted to report, haven't been too heavy this time.
This is a bonus, as edits are my least favourite part of the process. Give me a first draft to write any day of the week!
Speaking of which, I'm (appropriately) 12k words into the first draft of Book 12 which, at the moment at least, is proving a dream to write. Always a good sign.
But more about that the next time, because today is all about The Greek Island.
I hope you love the cover as much as I do. It shouts 'holiday read' to me, and I'm hoping lots of you will take a copy on your travels this summer - and send me a photo too!
That's all for me for now. I have edits and a first draft to finish!
Happy reading and speak soon!
Amanda x
